Revitalisation of the former Queens Hospital on Bath Row

Caption

Welcome

Aventicum, alongside their deliver partners McLaren, has submitted plans to redevelop the site of the former Queens Hospital on Bath Row in Birmingham city centre. The proposals create a new canal side community of 728 new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) units, 189 Build to Rent properties, and the conversion of the site’s western listed building into a publicly accessible amenity space.

After considering feedback, the following aspects of the proposals were agreed:

  • The maximum height of the proposals is 31 storeys, fully utilising a sustainable city centre location
  • The renewed western listed building will include a gym and café
  • 52 studio apartments will be included in the eastern listed building
  • A mix of 728 units for students and 189 Built to Rent units has been established to meet Birmingham’s housing need

This application is pending determination by Birmingham City Council and is available to view here by searching the planning reference 2023/02925/PA.
